Built from two decades on the record, so others don’t have to learn it the hard way.
PRAbility exists because communication skill shouldn’t have to be earned the way Carol Kaplan earned hers — one live interview and one crisis at a time.
PRAbility was founded by Carol Kaplan, a Washington, D.C.-based media relations expert and Emmy-winning journalist with two decades of experience getting people ready for the moment everyone else is watching.
Carol started as a television news anchorwoman and reporter at stations across the U.S., with live field reports appearing on CNN, CNBC, and MSNBC. From there, she became the on-the-record spokesperson for the American Bankers Association through the 2008–2010 U.S. financial crisis — personally fielding over 500 media requests a year and building a network of 600+ journalists.
She has since advised the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of the Treasury on communications strategy, and coached C-level executives ahead of high-stakes national interviews.
PRAbility was created because Carol kept seeing the same gap: talented leaders who had everything except the communication skill to match — and no framework built specifically to teach it. PRAbility is that framework: the same methodology used at the highest levels of media, government, and finance, made learnable for any leader willing to practice it.
What PRAbility believes about communication.
Make elite communication skill learnable
Executive-level communication has historically been passed down through experience alone. PRAbility exists to turn that experience into a teachable framework.
A recognized standard, not a single consultant
PRAbility is built to grow beyond one person into a certification and education ecosystem — a standard for executive communication the way other methodologies have become standards in their own fields.
Truth under pressure
Every part of the method traces back to a simple belief: the leaders people trust most are the ones who communicate honestly, especially when it’s hardest to do.
Experience, not theory.
Media Recognition
Emmy Award winner with multiple additional Emmy nominations, plus recognition from the Associated Press.
National Broadcast Experience
Live field reporting appeared on CNN, CNBC, and MSNBC across a career as a national television journalist.
Financial Crisis Spokesperson
On-the-record voice of the American Bankers Association throughout the 2008–2010 U.S. financial crisis.
Federal Advisory Work
Advised the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense, and the Treasury on communications strategy.
“PRAbility isn’t what I wish someone had told me. It’s what I wish someone had taught me — systematically, before I needed it.”Carol Kaplan, Founder, PRAbility
Certification is coming.
PRAbility is being built as more than a consulting practice — a future certification program will allow communications professionals and coaches to become licensed practitioners of the PRAbility method.
